Guide for buyers

How to find a reliable supplier in Romania

You find a reliable supplier in two moves: first collect several offers for the same request, then check the company by its CUI in public sources and watch how seriously it negotiates. On Markonex, the B2B marketplace for companies in Romania to buy and sell, you do both in one place: you publish an RFQ, receive offers from ANAF-verified suppliers and compare them before the agreement.

Step 1: define exactly what you are buying

Before searching, write down what you need: the product or service, technical specifications, quantity, delivery place and date and, where relevant, the certificates required. A precise request attracts comparable offers and helps you spot a supplier who has not read it carefully.

  • Separate mandatory requirements (standard, dimensions, certification) from negotiable ones (packaging, payment terms).
  • Decide your selection criteria in advance: price, lead time, distance, warranty, track record.

Step 2: collect several offers, not just one

A single offer does not tell you whether the price and lead time are right. Ask several suppliers for offers on the same specification. On Markonex you publish one RFQ and automatic matching takes it to the suppliers who sell what you need; if you already have a supplier in mind, you also send it a direct price request.

You can search yourself too: product search finds companies with matching products, you filter by location and distance, price and category, and compare up to 3 products side by side, with the price range, rating, distance and the company's financial data.

Step 3: check the company by its CUI

Any serious supplier gives you its CUI (Romanian company registration code). With it you check in public sources whether the company is active, where its registered office is, what it does (CAEN code), whether it is a VAT payer and what its financial statements look like over recent years. The detailed steps and official sources (ANAF, ONRC, Ministry of Finance, insolvency bulletin) are in the guide "How to check a Romanian company by CUI".

On Markonex, the profile of every company verified by CUI already shows the data taken from ANAF and the indicators from its public financial statements, and companies that are not ANAF-verified are clearly marked in results and on detail pages.

Step 4: watch for signs of a serious supplier

Beyond paperwork, how the supplier works matters. A few useful signals before you choose:

  • The offer answers exactly what you asked, with specifications, quantity, lead time and payment terms written clearly.
  • The company details in the offer and on the invoice (name, CUI, registered office) match the public registers.
  • The company's activity and size (CAEN code, revenue, headcount) fit the volume it promises.
  • It agrees to put the terms in writing, in an agreement or a contract.
  • It has reviews from other companies it has closed agreements with.

Step 5: negotiate and put the deal in writing

Negotiation shows how flexible and clear the supplier is. On Markonex you negotiate in rounds, with messages and documents, and once you reach the same terms, acceptance takes two phases and an agreement is created with price, quantity, delivery and payment terms. For repeated deliveries or large amounts, add a contract, generated from a template or uploaded, accepted by both parties.

After the agreement, the companies can rate and review each other, so the supplier's track record stays visible to the next buyers.

What no check can guarantee

ANAF verification confirms that the company exists and is active, and its financial statements show how it has developed, but they do not guarantee the quality of a specific delivery. Markonex does not process payments and is not a party to contracts between companies, so payment, delivery and acceptance of the goods are agreed directly between you. With a new supplier, a smaller first order or staged payments reduce the risk.

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell whether a supplier is a real, active company?

Ask for its CUI and check it in public sources: ANAF shows whether the company is active and a VAT payer, and the trade register shows the registered office, shareholders and directors. On Markonex, ANAF-verified companies have this data filled in automatically on their profile.

How many offers should I get before choosing a supplier?

There is no fixed number; what matters is having several offers for the same specification so you can compare price, lead time and conditions. An RFQ published on Markonex reaches all matching suppliers, so you do not have to contact them one by one.

Can I see reviews of a supplier?

Yes. On Markonex, a company can rate another with 1-5 stars and a review only if there is an agreement between them, so reviews come from real business relationships. The average rating appears next to the company name across the platform; companies without reviews show as "Unrated".
