B2B marketplace for HoReCa: food and beverage supplies from manufacturers and distributors
Markonex has a dedicated food and beverage category with seven subcategories, from dairy and meat to beverages and frozen products. Restaurants, hotels and catering companies request price quotes from several suppliers at once, and manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers find new HoReCa customers.

Who buys and who sells in HoReCa on Markonex
The platform connects companies that cook and serve every day with the companies that produce, import or distribute food and beverages.
- Buyers: restaurants, hotels and guesthouses, catering companies, cafés and bars, canteens and contract catering companies.
- Sellers: food manufacturers, beverage producers, distributors and wholesalers, importers, bakeries and pastry workshops, refrigerated transport companies.
Which subcategories the Food & beverage category covers
You choose the Food & beverage category and one or more of the subcategories below. Food manufacturing services are in the Manufacturing category, refrigerated transport in Transport & logistics, and food distribution in Wholesale & retail trade. Professional kitchen equipment has no separate subcategory: you describe it in the request, and matching is based first on the description.
- Dairy, meat and cold cuts.
- Bakery and pastry.
- Beverages.
- Canned goods, frozen products and spices.
How to request quotes for supplying a restaurant or hotel
You publish an RFQ with a title, description, category, location and validity period, 30 days by default. In the description you list the products, estimated quantities, delivery frequency, packaging and temperature requirements and the delivery address. A scanned or dictated product list can be turned directly into an RFQ, and the AI assistant helps with the description.
Matching suppliers send offers, which you negotiate in rounds with each of them. In product and company search you filter by radius, region, county or city and can search around up to 5 locations.
Usage examples
The scenarios below show how the platform can be used in this industry. They are illustrative examples, not cases of real customers.
- A hotel changing its breakfast menu is looking for a new supplier of dairy and bakery products. It publishes an RFQ with the products and delivery frequency and compares the offers received from producers in the area.
- A catering company preparing an event needs beverages and frozen products at short notice. It sends a direct price request to the distributor it works with and, at the same time, publishes an RFQ to compare prices.
- A spice producer lists its range in the catalogue, with price range and currency, and creates a follow filter for the Spices subcategory. It gets notified when a restaurant publishes a matching RFQ.
ANAF verification of suppliers and buyers
At sign-up, the platform queries ANAF, the Romanian tax authority, by CUI (company tax ID). If the company is active, the profile gets the “ANAF verified” status, and the company data held by ANAF is filled in automatically. If the CUI does not exist or the company is inactive or deregistered, sign-up with that CUI is blocked.
Company status is rechecked twice a month, and companies not verified by ANAF are marked distinctly in results. Each supplier profile shows its locations and public financial statements. For recurring supplies, the profile also shows whether the supplier is VAT-registered and uses e-Invoice.
For manufacturers, distributors and wholesalers
You list your catalogue with price range, currency, categories and subcategories, or import it from an Excel file. Your company locations appear on your profile and distance counts in the match score, so restaurants and hotels in your area find you more easily. You create follow filters for RFQs in your subcategories and get notified about every matching request.
Agreement and contract
After negotiation, you confirm the agreement in two phases and choose whether you need a contract, generated from a template or uploaded. Markonex does not process payments or deliver goods: payment, delivery and transport conditions are agreed directly between the companies.
Frequently asked questions
Can I request quotes on Markonex for recurring supplies, not just a one-off order?
Yes. In the RFQ you describe the frequency and duration of the supply, and you record the agreed terms in the agreement and, if you want, in a contract generated from the company template or uploaded. Deliveries and invoicing then happen directly between the companies.
Can I find food suppliers close to my restaurant?
Yes. Distance counts in the match score, and in product and company search you filter by radius, region, county or city. Each supplier profile shows its locations.
Does Markonex check suppliers’ food safety authorisations?
No. The platform verifies the company with ANAF by CUI, not sanitary or veterinary authorisations. You ask the supplier directly for the documents required for food products, for example as documents attached in the negotiation.
Does Markonex deliver the food or beverages?
No. Markonex does not sell, deliver or process payments. Delivery, refrigerated transport where needed, and payment are agreed directly between buyer and supplier, according to their agreement.
